Case study
RetroCric
A digital magazine celebrating cricket's golden years — the stories, rivalries, and iconic moments that shaped the game, with feature articles and a learn section.
Problem
Cricket nostalgia lives in scattered YouTube clips, forums, and one-off blogs. Fans of the golden years rarely get a cohesive magazine experience — something that feels editorial, browsable, and worth returning to each month.
Approach
Designed and shipped RetroCric as a Nuxt 3 + Vue + TypeScript digital magazine: issue-style homepage (exclusive / inside / review stickers), a Features section for the story of the month, an Articles archive, and a Learn section for deeper cricket history. Content is markdown-driven so stories can ship without redeploying the app shell; the reading UI prioritises long-form typography and magazine hierarchy over a generic blog list.
Outcome
Live at retrocric.com with a published archive of golden-era features — World Cup classics, Ashes deep dives, rivalries, and retro gear — plus Learn content for fans who want context beyond the headlines. The product is a personal showcase of editorial product design and modern Nuxt content architecture.
- Magazine IA: Home → Features → Articles → Learn, with sticker CTAs that mimic a print cover stand
- Markdown/content pipeline for dated feature articles with media, so editorial work stays separate from UI code
- Long-form reading experience tuned for nostalgia storytelling rather than feed-style cards
